Unless you have been hiding under a rock for the last five years or so, you have probably heard about vaping in one way or another. Whether it is on social media, the news, or by word of mouth, the popularity of e-cigarettes has risen exponentially in recent years.
Despite this rise in popularity though, there are still many people who are not very familiar with e-cigarettes and how they work. In fact, many people are still very skeptical about their safety and would never even consider trying them.
Vaping has been around for years, but only really came into the public eye after e-cigarettes were introduced in 2008 by a Chinese pharmacist named Hon Lik. Since then, it’s grown into an industry of over $3 billion in the United States alone and has inspired thousands of people across the globe to quit smoking. So what exactly is vaping? In its simplest form, vaping is when an e-cig heats up a small amount of liquid (also known as e-juice) until it turns into vapor that can then be inhaled (or “vaped”). The vapor is usually inhaled through a mouthpiece in the same way that one would smoke a regular cigarette.
Vaping can be a great way to quit smoking, but it doesn’t always come easily to those who’ve never tried it. This beginner’s guide to vaping will help you understand the basics of vaping and how to get started.
What Is Vaping?
Vaping is the process of inhaling an aerosol vapor created by an electronic cigarette or similar device. Vaping often uses a mixture of flavoring, propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin and nicotine. Unlike traditional cigarettes, which burn tobacco and produce smoke, e-cigarettes heat the e-liquid in a chamber to create an aerosol that is inhaled.
How Does Vaping Work?
Most vapes consist of two parts: a battery and a tank or pod. The battery powers the device, while the tank/pod holds the e-liquid. The liquid is heated by the atomizer (or coil) in the tank, which transforms it into vapor that is then inhaled. Once you’re done using your vape, you simply dispose of the e-liquid in your tank and replace it with more.
For many casual vapers, it’s all too easy to get stuck in a rut with your vape. You’ll find a flavour that you love, and stick to it, adding the occasional new liquid to your repertoire but never really exploring the full range of options available. This is fine if you love your chosen flavour – but what if you fancy something different?
There are hundreds of different e-liquids on the market, and thousands of different flavour combinations. If you’re looking to try something new, there’s sure to be something that appeals. We’ve put together this short guide to help you discover some new flavours and expand your vaping horizons!
If you know what e-liquid flavours you like, but want to explore further afield, one great place to start is with tobacco flavours. These often have a ‘note’ of some other flavour (such as caramel or vanilla) added in order to make them more interesting, while still being grounded in tobacco flavours. In particular, pipe tobacco flavours are a popular choice for vapers who want an interesting twist on the classic tobacco taste.
