Cityblock co-founder discusses why an affordable, people-centered care model works – TechCrunch

On Found Live, Darrell and Jordan chatted with Cityblock co-founder and president, Toyin Ajayi. CItyblock provides primary care, behavioral health, and social care to people who have historically been marginalized in healthcare, primarily those who receive their health insurance through Medicaid with the goal of providing high-quality holistic care at a lower cost. They do this through a network of doctors, community outreach teams, and by partnering with insurance companies. While Dr. Ajayi worked in a hospital, she became frustrated with the systemic problems that sent the same patients back to the hospital time and again. So she began experimenting with ways to expand her care, such as providing her cell phone number, making home visits, and being available to explain medications. That idea grew into Cityblock where that level of personal care is scaled up. They talked about the healthcare system, how healthcare providers can improve healthcare, Toyin’s spirited TechCrunch Disrupt panel and answered some questions from the audience.
