April 4, 2022 (MLN): The International Monetary Fund (IMF) remains committed to Pakistan’s macroeconomic stability, a statement from the Finance Department said Monday.
The statement said the Finance Division and the IMF will remain engaged in data sharing and reform discussions as part of EFF.
“There is nothing wrong with speculation about the suspension of the program. The IMF has confirmed the same and also clarified that it remains committed to the macroeconomic stability of Pakistan,” it said.
Because a no-confidence vote against Prime Minister Imran Khan was rejected on Sunday by the Vice-President of the National Assembly for calling it against Article 5 of the constitution, and the Prime Minister called new elections, fearing it would lead to a suspension of the IMF program or delay in the disbursement of the remaining tranches.
