Position Summary
The School of Law Assistant Director of Career Services & Outreach position exists to assist in the direction of the student-centered career services duties prescribed by the Dean of the School of Law and Assistant Dean of Career Services & Outreach.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Utilize technology to increase office efficiency and improve student centered services.
Serve as expert on office’s career services management software (csm) and ensure office uses csm to fullest capabilities, including job posting, OCI, advising, experiential learning modules, and more.
Accept, investigate, post, and approve job postings. Communicate postings to students and recent graduates.
Maintain CSO website and assist with social media. Assist with the creation and proof reading of publications. Ensure communications are branded appropriately.
Act as point of contact for alumni and students that are experiencing problems with the csm account.
Assist with collecting and reporting accurate data and tracking student employment statistics in accordance with NALP and the ABA.
Assist with research and statistical analysis. Maintain CSO files and records, including financial records such as budget, expense reports, and processing accounts payable.
Assist the Assistant Dean and Director wherever needed to ensure smooth operations of CSO functions.
Serve as the front-line CSO professional and direct day-to-day operations. Maintain schedules.
Provide students and alumni with job search assistance by informing and advising them about CSO resources.
Maintain knowledge of legal industry/market and career and professionalism trends.
Assist with program planning and direct programming in conjunction with the Assistant Dean and Director.
Attend CSO programming and represent office at other programs, including Lunch with a Lawyer.
Responsible for Weekly Tip Program.
Develop and maintain relationships with students, alumni, and employers; identify their needs; and assist them in achieving their objectives.
Maintain relationships with internal colleagues to ensure smooth cross-departmental collaboration.
Responsible for the reciprocity program and creating content for the BYU Intercollegiate Job Bank monthly newsletter.
Work directly with employers to maintain employment listings.
Supervise work study students.
Perform other duties as assigned.
. Requirements:
A college degree
Two years to five years of experience
Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesHigh Technological skills required.High Proficiency with Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel required.Must possess a professional appearance.Must possess a service attitude.High attention to detail is essential.Superior oral and written communication skills are required.
Physical Requirements
Job may require lifting light weight objects (1 to 10 pounds) with no repetitive bending or stooping. Occasionally lift average weight objects (1 to 10 pounds).
Work Environment
Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a normal office.
Salary/Pay Information
Commensurate with experience
