||Administers State Aid programs; awarding and reconciliation of state grant funds. Responsible for program management for the Federal Work Study Program. Provides support in all areas of customer service during periods of heavy volume and limited staffing. Assists the supervisor on projects as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in business, student personnel, or a related field and at least two years of experience in financial aid.
Knowledge of personal income tax and counseling experience. Experience working in an Ellucian Banner environment.
In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this position will perform sedentary work.
SEDENTARY: work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as Sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other Sedentary criteria are met.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for State Aid programs; awarding and reconciliation of grant funds; transmits and receives files to and from state entities.
Provides leadership and program management for the Federal Work Study Program in order to provide need-based employment for students; processes and monitors the Federal Work Study requirements.
Assists the supervisor as needed and assigned; conducts tests of YSU developed programs, reports, and scripts for the Banner financial aid module.
Responsible for updating the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships’ Policy and Procedure Manual. Collects information and maintains material pertinent to the Office Procedures Manual.
Assists in the training process for newly hired financial aid staff.
Serves as liaison, as necessary, with other offices providing student services.
Maintains ACD office phone reports.
Assists colleagues as assigned; counsels students and parents concerning financial aid, financial aid planning, debt management, federal methodology, and student problem resolution. Conducts financial aid outreach programs that require speaking to groups of students and parents regarding all aspects of financial aid. Assists with the office phone bank serving as a back-up and assists during periods of heavy volume. Assists front counter personnel during periods of heavy volume.
Provides financial aid information to students in person or via telephone regarding all aspects of financial aid, including Pell and other federal grants, state of Ohio grants, Federal Family Education Loan Programs, scholarships, and special programs.
OTHER FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintains an even temperament in stressful situations and communicates effectively on an individual and group basis.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervision is exercised over student employees.
