Job Description : Do you want to make a difference in the Latino community in support of a mission-driven organization? COPAL is looking for a Communications Director to develop and implement marketing and communications strategies, as well as manage audience services functions. This position will conduct audience research, produce promotional materials, help maintain the website, manage the radio station, develop relationships with key community and media partners, as well as perform other assignments under limited supervision. This position will be required to supervise interns, contractors and manage relationship in Mexico and El Salvador. This position is located in an office building, with a number of duties and responsibilities able to be performed remotely. The office building is accessible and smoke free. There is occasional travel required to and from community settings, shelters, and the homes of program participants and their families. Work is generally performed during normal business hours but may include evening and/or weekend hours.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Communications and Marketing · Oversee and direct communications strategy to promote the work of COPAL.· Work closely with leadership to develop and support the organization’s strategic initiatives.· Develop and implement detailed communication plans in line with the organization’s strategies.· Oversee the website, radio station, and social media management and strategy.· Oversee design and graphics messaging.· Create and maintain a communications schedule, adjusting as needed throughout the year given changes in circumstances and strategic work plan.· Serve as a media point of contact, including drafting all press releases and organizing press conferences.· Manage budgets, authorize expenses, and assume responsibility for balancing the budgets.· Analyze and document the effectiveness of marketing and development strategies.· Represent the organization at media and community events, pursuing opportunities to increase local, regional, and national visibility.· Maintain press and public relations mailing lists.· After six months in the position, began developing a business plan for the radio station; after one year in the position, implement a business plan that considers a 10-15% business revenue to sustain the radio station.*REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: *Education and Experience: · Degree in communications, marketing or another relevant field, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.· Experience supervising part-time/contract staff and volunteers.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: · Knowledge of digital marketing and communication strategies.· Ability to center the work of COPAL’s communications department to embrace a Latino Cosmo-centric vision.· Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe Design Programs, website maintenance, typography, layout, and general design concept.· Excellent verbal and written communications skills.· Ability to make quick decisions, exercising sound judgment regarding communications.· Ability to be creative and flexible in responding to changing priorities and emerging needs.· Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize, and meet deadlines.· Ability to work independently and with limited supervision.· Ability to be detail-oriented and highly organized.· Ability to work effectively in a mission-driven agency whose clients and staff exhibit significant diversity with respect to race, ethnicity, gender orientation, socio-economic status, nationality, and religion.Licenses and Certifications: · A valid MN Drivers’ License, access to reliable transportation, and ability to meet COPAL’s driving record requirements.· Must have completed COVID-19 vaccination and/or will have completed the vaccine before starting; COPAL can provide vaccination resources if needed.ORGANIZATION SUMMARY: COPAL is a grassroots organization that seeks to impact the quality of life for Latinos in Minnesota through working on public policy, leadership, and community service.
