Job Description : | Introduction The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), Division of Public Safety and Resource Protection is recruiting to fill two (2) Conservation Warden Supervisor (Natural Resources Law Enforcement Supervisor classification) vacancies. These positions will supervise the Park Falls and the Green Bay Warden teams. Current office space is available for the Green Bay Warden Team in Green Bay or Sturgeon Bay, and office space for the Park Falls Warden Team includes Park Falls, Prentice, and Ladysmith, however other locations within the teams may be considered based on office space availability, applicant preference, and program need at the time of hire. Position Summary These positions are responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the Law Enforcement program and for overseeing the operations and planning for the assigned team. They will establish, coordinate and monitor team law enforcement program activities to ensure work plan objectives are met, policies and guidance are adhered to and that integration and coordination with other teams and programs occurs. The Conservation Warden Supervisor will also be responsible for enforcing natural resource and environmental laws as needed. For a detailed position description, click here. Salary Information Starting pay is $40.96 per hour ($85,197 annually). Pay on appointment for current or former state employees is based on the State Compensation Plan. Current State employees applying as a transfer applicant will require DPM approval for pay on transfer increases. This position is in Pay Schedule/Range 81-03. A 12-month probation period may be required. Job Details Employees in this position must meet the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board certification requirements as a law enforcement officer or be eligible for certification through the State of Wisconsin Department of Justice reciprocity program. Additionally, appointment may be subject to successful completion of the following: 1) Physical fitness assessments; 2) Background investigation; and 3) Psychological testing, drug screen and medical evaluation. Upon appointment, all applicants must possess certification in ATV, Boating, and Snowmobile Safety and possess a valid driver’s license with no OWI (Operating While Intoxicated) convictions within one year, and no more than two (2) moving violations or at fault accidents within the past two years. Online courses are available at Safety Education – Wisconsin. All Warden Supervisors shall have their primary residence and live in the state as follows: 1. Within their administrative area and 50 miles or less of their workstation, OR 2. Fifty (50) driving miles or less of their workstation AND within 10 driving miles of their administrative area boundary. Employment will require the selected candidate to pass a background check. DNR does not sponsor work visas, thus, in compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify eligibility to work in the United States by completing the required I-9 form upon hire. All state employees are required to report their COVID vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not, and must provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment. Qualifications Please make sure to describe the following qualifications within your resume and/or letter of qualifications in order to be considered for this position: Required qualifications include ALL of the following: Must meet the Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board certification requirements as a law enforcement officer or be eligible for certification through the State of Wisconsin Department of Justice reciprocity program Experience teaching, training, guiding, mentoring, coaching others in a professional working environment Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders including agencies, divisions, bureaus, etc . Experience in a role that required customer service or frequent interaction with customers from diverse backgrounds Best-qualified applicants will also have the following p referred qualifications: Experience as a certified law enforcement officer whose primary duty was the enforcement of outdoor recreational activities and natural resources laws Acting or formal supervisory experience (e.g., hiring, training, workplan and performance evaluation, assigning duties, ensuring compliance, etc.) Experience with managing a program performing duties such as budget management, ensuring work plans objectives are met, interpreting policies and guidelines, etc. Experience leading a team or project in a professional capacity How To Apply PLEASE NOTE: The job application is set to time-out after 30 minutes of inactivity.
