Responsibilities include unit care, floor and carpet care, and other related cleaning services. Manages custodial crews, trainings and inspections. Responsible for management, maintenance and care of custodial equipment such as vacuum cleaners, buffing machines and pressure washers. This position requires participation in call-out responsibilities and may require night shift responsibilities, game day preparation and weekend work. This position is considered essential and therefore may be required to remain on campus for storm or emergency-related duty.Evaluates and manages productivity and effectiveness of the department’s custodial activities by supervising, training, and evaluating all custodial employees. Makes necessary changes in workflows, personnel, and responsibilities in order to achieve quality and timely results. Forecasts operational needs of the cleaning staff to ensure comprehensive coverage. Serves as the on-call custodial representative during evernings and weekends.Develops trainings for staff on topics relating to custodial maintenance, cleaning, and safe work practices. Develops and implements operating policies and procedures for residential custodial services and staff that will advance the quality of services.Responsible for directly managing the custodial team to include hiring, training, disciplinary actions, and etc.Conducts frequent and routine inspections of all residential facilities and furnishings. Maintains inventory of the equipment used for custodial services. Makes recommendations to the Custodial Coordinator regarding the purchase of maintenance and custodial/cleaning supplies.Maintains contact with outside vendors to provide custodial needs. Represents the department’s interest when utilizing outside vendors to perform work within the residential facilities. Certifies and approves supply receipts.Serves as an University card user for departmental transactions. Assures compliance and adherence to University credit card policies and procedures.Maintains daily contact with contractors to ensure their deadlines are met Oversees and coordinates with contractors for waste management.Maintains contact with a wide variety of vendors to provide for facilities and maintenance needs for the work unit. Contacts vendors for ordering parts and equipment.Works with the Finance Team on purchases and establishment of blanket purchase order needs, researches product and equipment needs.
