Job Description : | POSITION PURPOSE: Assists in planning, coordinating, controlling, and driving plant performance to achieve production goals, maintain quality system, ensure safety of team members, and protection of the environment. EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: Four-year degree in Engineering/Science, related field preferred, two-year degree in bioprocessing/science related field required Ten years or more experience in food manufacturing environment, management experience required Knowledge of Ajinomoto internal systems Knowledge of industry, market, and product applications KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent verbal and written communication skills High degree of scientific and technical proficiency Ability to transfer technical knowledge to practical applications Ability to lead and manage teams maintaining a high level of morale and discipline Ability to make independent judgments which have major impacts on the organization Knowledge of the AFI & AHI Plant Operations WORKING CONDITIONS: Fast paced bio-chemical/chemical/dry blending manufacturing environment working both in office & plant setting. This position may perform activities in an environment containing hazardous elements and requiring safety awareness and adherence to all safety policies and guidelines. Work must be performed in a safe manner for personal protection and for the protection of other team members. All safety procedures, procedures described in SOPs, JHAs, and support of the ISO standards in all functional areas must be followed, enforced, and strictly complied with. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Position requires the ability to sit for a minimum of 6 hours per day; stand, walk, bend over and reach above head less than an hour a day; lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds occasionally and repetitive use of hands/arms for writing and computer work. Occasional travel required. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Ensure safety of team members and protection of environment by providing oversite for department handling team member training and enforcing company policies Lead the AFI Blending/Packaging/Logistic teams to set and meet production goals Lead the Eddyville Complex Wastewater/Utilities teams to ensure processes are operated and maintained properly Assists with short- and long-term planning, budget, and objective setting Assists with controlling cost by carrying out company policy, providing management supervision, budget planning, contract review and evaluation of purchasing agreements Serve as a backup for the AFI & AHI General Managers Communicate applicable information from corporate team to plant team Lead and develop a high functioning workforce by hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining, and keeping motivated Assist with plant level public relations and employee relation activities Help plan, implement, maintain, and review comprehensive professional development programs Work with Sales & Marketing team to seek opportunities to launch new products fitting the Ajinomoto specialty business goals Coordinate cross-functional teams within organization to promote and align expectations Coordinate and lead communication between plants & departments (i.e. AFI/AHI, Production, Maintenance, Engineering, SEQ and 3rd Parties) to assess idea feasibility, assign priorities, enhance inter-department cooperation to ensure implementation of short and long-term goals Support the Eddyville complex in Sustainability/Compliance Initiatives Support organizational goals by aligning individual and plant goals appropriately in alignment with Ajinomoto culture Support stable operations by seeking continuous improvement Maintain integrity and reputation through compliance with state, federal and AJICO guidelines and regulations The statements contained herein reflect general details as necessary to describe the principal functions for this job, the level of knowledge and skill typically required, and the scope of responsibility, but should not be considered an all-inclusive listing of work requirements.
