About the role As the Director, Federal Affairs & Stakeholder Management, you will be a critical strategic leader and contributor to our community and our company. You will advise the Vice President Federal Advocacy and our Senior Leadership Team to define how the company analyzes, understands, navigates, and shapes the policy & legislative systems in the United States at the federal level. You will advocate for Micron externally with the legislative community, executive branch, third party groups and partners regulatory community and the policy community in partnership with colleagues in State & Local Government Affairs and Policy & Research, working closely with International and Global colleagues to bring an integrated picture to our advocacy efforts in the US at the federal level. You will bring external perspectives back into the company to inform our perception, strategy and direction. You will bring expertise in the areas of politics, process, tactics, and team management as well as preferred experience in technology, industrial policy and manufacturing, trade, foreign relations, and issues facing global companies. You will also be outcome and results oriented. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Public Affairs team and will develop, nurture and maintain strong relationships and enhance the brand and reputation of Micron with this stakeholder set. This candidate will be focused on proactive engagement and reputation/relationship management in support of Micron’s policy objectives. You will seek to identify key policy issues, solicit and hear others’ perspectives, and distill and share the company’s views on those issues with external stakeholders. You will be expected to represent the company in front of political policy and opinion leaders. In this role you can expect to Develop a nuanced understanding of Micron’s current and future potential issues and assess key legislative, policy and regulatory risks and opportunities; Partner to develop and execute strategies for engaging government officials, opinion leaders and regulators in the United States; Engage proactively and reactively with government officials and regulators at the federal level regarding Micron’s current and future products, issues, and priorities to ensure that we are able to operate successfully and fairly; Maintain fluency on a wide variety of regulatory and policy issues including trade, semiconductor manufacturing, tax, immigration, DEI, sustainability, technology and data, foreign affairs, and innovation Serve as an effective advocate for Micron and our interests on key policy and political matters and craft positions for the company that will establish it publicly as a thought leader and innovator; Communicate effectively with government officials, internal colleagues, peers and partners, business partners, and industry associations; Be a flexible communicator who can both explain technical details to a public policy audience and public policy developments to an internal technical audience. To thrive in this role you will have Bachelor’s degree; 10-12+ years of experience working with government, think tanks, public interest groups, advocacy groups, industry groups, or corporations in Washington DC Demonstrated experience, strong existing relationships and proven track record of succeeding working with federal regulators, Executive branch officials, governmental bodies or legislators Experience working with cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders, executing strategies, delivering solutions, and managing cross-functional projects; Ability to integrate public policy with business strategy and influence both internal and external stakeholders; Ability to operate in ambiguous environments and quickly learn/adapt to emerging issues. Excellent attention to detail and personal, political, analytical, and communication skills; A self-starter attitude: you instinctively and consistently create personal and professional stretch goals and meet them; This role’s location is based in Washington D.C. but maintains flexibility for some remote work.
