Posting Title Director, Financial Aid Department UNT-Financial Aid-164860 Job Location Denton Full Time/Part Time Full-Time Salary Information Department Summary Directs strategic and operational activities related to student eligibility for Title IV aid and associated aid programs in order to maintain a high level of compliance, efficiency, and effective customer service. Position Overview This position will be responsible for leading a critical area of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships (SFAS) and the training of applicable staff. This position will develop and maintaincompliant and efficient office policy, procedures, and business practices related to student Title IV aid eligibility, verification of files, resolving conflicting information, evaluation of satisfactory academic progress, student appeals, financial aid adjustments, and the review of related quality controls. This position will directly supervise team supervisors as well as develop and manage a training program for staff regarding financial aid policy, procedures, and financial aid counseling. Additional Posting Details Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in related field and six years of closely related professional experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Working knowledge of fiscal policies and financial aid programs of the University.Thorough knowledge of office practices and procedures, including knowledge of automated information management systems.Ability to train and supervise subordinate employees.Ability to counsel students.Ability to relate student applications to available scholarship and loan funds.Excellent written and oral communication skills.Ability to work independently.Ability to prepare accurate reports.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, parents, and with other employees, and to deal with public relations problems courteously and tactfully. Preferred Qualifications Master’s Degree Ten years of financial aid administration experience PeopleSoft experience Required License / Registration / Certification Obtain clearance to NSLDS within 30 days of hire. Work Schedule Monday – Friday 8-5, some required overtime. Interviews, hires, and trains staff to include the direct supervision of management level employees. o Responsible for maintaining a high level of knowledge and understanding of current federal, state, and institutional aid administration rules and regulations in order to ensure SFAS compliance, development of best business practices, and partnering with University and external stakeholders to fulfill the mission of the University, Division and Departmental goals.
