Job Opening for Director of People Operations and Compliance in Klaviyo (Boston, MA)

This role will hold responsibility for defining an effective employee relations and investigation process in addition to developing and implementing a strategy to align employment compliance requirements with business objectives.

How you’ll make a difference:

Partner with People Ops and Legal to audit the requirements associated with all applicable People Ops-related legal/regulatory and compliance programs.
Ensure compliance with all global employment policies, laws, regulations, health and safety standards, etc. (e.g. EEO/Affirmative Action, FLSA, SOX, Employee Handbook, Employment Agreements, etc.).
In collaboration with Legal, stay well-informed on employee-relations legislative or regulations changes. Ensure all changes to rules and regulations are updated within HR systems, policies, and practices.
Build out employee relations protocols and create escalation paths for potential violations of policies, practices, or values, including designing a framework for grievances, disputes, discipline escalations, etc.
Support escalations from the HR Shared Services team for policy interpretation and partner with Shared Services to provide proactive solutions for employee engagement.
Partner with Legal Employment and Compliance on internal investigations. Review and manage complaints, develop investigation plans, gather data and facts, conduct interviews, analyze data, write comprehensive reports with findings and recommendations for action.
Establish and ensure appropriate retention and filing of HR documents (personnel files, investigation notes, etc.)
Review recruitment practices using safeguarding language in job postings, and interview screenings, as well as use of new onboarding and completion of mandatory trainings by new employees, and vetting employee job changes to ensure compliance with local and state laws (i.e. Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, etc.) throughout the U.S.
Supervision and inspirational leadership for the HR Shared Services team, with a specific focus on building and developing a newly formed team within a hyper-growth company, helping prioritize and remove roadblocks and support work that is transactional in nature, and owning business process improvement and operational cadence of high-volume work.

Who you are:

BA/BS degree in addition to 10+ years of progressive experience in Employee Relations, HR or Employment Law
5+ years experience leading and supervising others
Excellent conflict or problem resolution skills with the ability to effectively communicate across executive leadership
Working knowledge of employment law (multi-state or global), compliance, employee relations required
Demonstrated experience using a case management system to track employee complaints and concerns
Sound judgment and discretion; able to manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately
Excellent written and oral communication, including the ability to distill information and translate into a comprehensive written report
Strong analytic skills with the ability to compile, research, and analyze information and then draw insights and influence data-driven decisions
Excellent leadership, communication, listening, and presentation skills
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and a self-starter
Demonstrated ability to take initiative and manage multiple, complex, competing priorities
