||Congregation Shir Ha-Ma’alot tel: 949-857-2226Executive Director – Position Profile Congregation Shir Ha-Ma’alot is a thriving 650 Reform congregation in Orange County,California affiliated with the Union for Reform Judaism. Founded in 1968, SHM invites applicants for Executive Director commencing May 2022. This position reports directly to theSenior Rabbi and works directly with our Temple officers and board members.Responsibilities include: _ Temple Administration _ Oversee all office and administrative functions. Manage all office staff with the goal of optimizing resources for a smooth functioning operation that continually focuses on improvement and customer service for our members and staff.Human Resources Recruit and mentor non-professional staff. Ensure policies and procedures are kept up to date and that staff is in compliance.Financial Management Ensure accurate and prudent financial management.Facilities Management Manage and maintain the condition, safety and security of the facility.High Holy Days, Other Religious Services & Events Coordinate all processes and arrangements.Liaison to Executive Committee & Board of Trustees, Chief of Staff to Sr Rabbi Establish and be a valued liaison with Temple leadership.Background and experience: 5+ years of senior managerial organizational experienceStrong experience with technology.Financial management experience is required, and use of MS-Excel and other financial management tools is necessary.Understanding of non-profits and Jewish institutions, in particular, strongly preferred.Experience with lay leaders a plus. More in depth description: Board Administration and Support Maintain ongoing dialogue with Temple Presidents & Treasurer. Provide support to theBoard, the Executive Committee and other committees as necessary.Chief of Staff to Sr Rabbi Establish and maintain close, effective working relationship with the Sr Rabbi.Ensure that the Rabbi is accurately informed about all matters of importance.Temple Administration Supervise day-to-day operation of the Temple office.Supervise and mentor all temple administrative and facilities employeesMaintain a master calendar of temple events and coordinate the scheduling of all activities and programming.Support other professional staff members.Oversee and maintain insurance coverage. Conduct annual premium and coverage reviews.Supervise purchase of supplies and equipment.Allocate workloads and workflow.Volunteer coordination for reception desk.Together with the Safe & Healthy Members committee, implement the security and emergency management program.IT oversight to include computer and server management.High Holy Days & Religious Services Coordinate all arrangements for the High Holy Days, including parking, transportation, seating, and security.Ensure the facility is prepared for all religious services.Attend the High Holy Day services, major or special services and life-cycle event as appropriate.Human Resources Maintain and administer personnel procedures and standards for all Temple employees.Prepare and maintain job descriptions for all direct reports and make sure others do so for their direct reports.Recruit, mentor, supervise and evaluate admin and custodial staff.Hold weekly meetings with admin staff, daily check-ins with custodial staff.Initiate an atmosphere of positivity and employee satisfaction.Oversee payroll and employee benefits.Facilities Management and Planning Manage and maintain the condition, safety and security of the synagogue.Ensure all regular maintenance is done on a timely basis.Oversee all necessary repairs.Supervise custodial staffFinancial Management Lead the annual budget process. When ready, present to the Treasurer for review and assist with presentation to the Board of Trustees. Prepare final budget to be sent to the congregation for approval at the annual meeting.Manage investments and cash flow.Oversee all fiscal operations. Each month work with the bookkeeper to prepare and present year to date financial reports. Review accounts to make sure charges have been properly booked. Be able to explain differences between budget, forecast, and actual.Prepare monthly year end forecasts.Follow up with members regarding financial pledges and other unpaid accounts.Membership Work hand-in-hand with the Membership director to set annual membership goals.Ensure that the focus of the admin staff is on providing extraordinary customer service.Work with members to set achievable financial commitments.Monitor and make recommendations on dues and other fees.Event Coordination Oversee and supervise all aspects of facility rental.Develop, implement, and enforce synagogue polices regarding caterers and other outside vendors.Foster relationship with our in-house caterer, Blueberry Hill.Coordinate custodial staff and security for events.Maintain inventory of dishes, etc.Tenant Coordination Ensure that tenant is observing agreements per the leaseTogether with the bookkeeper, track all rent and other monthly paymentsJob Type: Full-timePay: $43,082.00 – $154,439.00 per yearBenefits:401(k)Health insuranceLife insurancePaid time offSchedule:8 hour shiftMonday to FridayWeekend availabilityEducation:Bachelor’s (Preferred)Work Location: One location
