The Maintenance Supervisor leads the Maintenance Team in diagnosing, repairing and maintaining machinery and equipment at Savage’s Car Wash and SIT Yard in Westlake, LA. Savage manages and performs critical steps in the Polymer supply chain, including: management of equipment, washing, and personnel at origination facility.
Here is what you will be doing
Supervise daily maintenance activities and work force utilizing and maintaining equipment
Ensure all Team Members follow proper safety rules, maintenance and operating procedures and facilitate corrective action
Write and revise maintenance procedures as needed
Oversee development and execution of weekly maintenance schedule
Perform daily inspections and maintenance audits
Requirements of a successful Maintenance Supervisor
Background in planning and scheduling maintenance
Ideal candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas:
Extensive knowledge of mechanical systems, heavy equipment, electrical, and wash rack maintenance
Executing planned and scheduled maintenance activities with a focus to reduce emergency and reactive work
Working knowledge of mechanical systems, trouble shooting and problem solving
Operating several different types of heavy equipment from various manufacturers
High safety standards and dangers of working in these types of environments and understands how poor maintenance can be costly to such industry
Extensive knowledge operating a variety of equipment is a plus
Air Brake Certification is a plus
Experience with applying safety regulations and written procedures within a refinery or chemical plant is required
Strong familiarity with OSHA safety regulations with fall protection and work operations
High School Diploma or greater, Bachelor’s Degree preferred

Ability to be exposed to the outdoor elements
Must be physically able to do the following:
Climb on and off rail-cars and locomotives safely
Walk long distances
Consistently sit, kneel, squat, bend, stand and climb on elevated surfaces
Work, walk, and stand on uneven ballast surfaces for long periods of time
Lift 15 lbs. and work safely with this weight at knee, waist and shoulder level
Lift up to 50 lbs consistently throughout the course of a shift
Operate basic hand tools
Wear required PPE
