Job Description : Job Title: MIS Support Specialist (Business Services) Department: Management Information Systems (MIS) FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Pay Grade: 206 Work Days: 226 Reports to: Director of MIS Primary Purpose The primary purpose of this position is to provide direct support to the Region 11 client school districts in all areas of business administrative services provided. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Certification: Associate Degree or equivalent experience TASBO certification, preferred Special Knowledge/Skills: Software Knowledge ASCENDER PEIMS/State Reporting Must be proficient in daily business operations, including at least two of the following:: Finance Budget Purchasing Asset Management Personnel Payroll Position Management Basic technical knowledge of ASCENDER, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel & Email Team oriented attitude and desire to work collaboratively with ESC 11 Staff and campus/district/charter school personnel Excellent knowledge of school district central office administrative functions such as finance and payroll Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent organizational, public relations, and interpersonal skills Excellent knowledge of FAR guidelines and coding Excellent knowledge of TRS guidelines Excellent knowledge of PEIMS Data Standards Basic knowledge of governmental accounting principles Experience: 4-6 years experience at a Regional Service Center or in a school district in a business office environment working with business accounting software. Accounting degree may be substituted for 2 years experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities This list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented. Actively participate in and/or leadership for inter-departmental teams to help improve student performance in the region, to improve the ESC’s internal operations, and to meet the established goals and objectives for the ESC. Is responsive as first point of contact to all stakeholders in the education community. Participate in Business Team projects Supports business administrative software Provides telephone support Provides workshop training Provides on-site visits Assist with PEIMS Learns new software features Attends regional and statewide ASCENDER business training Makes documentation recommendations Makes software enhancement recommendations Provides suggestions for planning and scheduling client training Implements new applications Supports clients with basic accounting functions Other duties as assigned.
