| Job Description : | Stanford Biodesign is a multidisciplinary collaboration between the Stanford University Schools of Medicine and Engineering. Its mission is to train the next generation of leaders in health technology innovation. To achieve this aim, Stanford Biodesign offers a fellowship program, faculty training, graduate and undergraduate-level courses, and a portfolio of other educational initiatives focused on identifying unmet health-related needs, inventing new technologies to address them, and preparing to introduce these solutions into patient care. Stanford Biodesign is seeking a Writer to plan and manage the development and execution of high-profile written materials and curriculum that support our academic programs. Serve as a lead member of the academic programs team, assisting across the portfolio of Stanford Biodesign’s educational offerings. Contribute to the evolution of Stanford Biodesign’s primary teaching materials, including the Biodesign textbook and our online, multi-media Student Guide to Biodesign. Assist with the creation and rollout of new content, as well as the maintenance of existing content. Gather and assess user feedback and make recommendations for future teaching materials improvements. Oversee curriculum development for select courses and programs. Ensure that all Biodesign offerings adhere to our common process and meet our high standards for quality. Coordinate with course/program managers and teaching teams to ensure effective delivery of course/program curriculum. Identify opportunities for improvement and course/program extensions. Lead the planning, development, and rollout of a new, systematic approach for evaluating course/program effectiveness and the effectiveness of our external guest speakers. Work with the faculty director to plan and formalize an annual assessment process for evaluating the teaching capabilities of our faculty. Lead the research, development, execution, and management of written materials, including but not limited to peer-reviewed journal articles, case studies, mainstream news articles, email communications, book chapters, video scripts, and classroom teaching materials that promote and/or support Stanford Biodesign’s academic programs. Coordinate and guide contributions to research and writing projects from multiple faculty members with diverse working styles, priorities, and availability. Manage the complex, multi-participant process to ensure that an integrated, cohesive end-result is achieved on time and within budget. Maintain and manage a research agenda for the program, scanning the external environment for topics and working with faculty and senior staff to identify, define, and prioritize research opportunities. Scope ideas for research projects, written publications, and multi-media communications related to health technology innovation and the activities of Stanford Biodesign. Such projects may involve complex subject matter related to inter-disciplinary, project-based teaching techniques and curriculum, innovation in lifesciences, health economics, and/or innovation policy. Help define goals for research projects and written communications that address the diverse needs of our primary audiences. Assess and track the effectiveness/impact/reach of each work against its stated objectives and make recommendations for future improvements. Collaborate with other staff members on team projects and/or to drive improvements within the program. Provide periodic support at program-related events (e.g., set-up/breakdown, registration, hospitality and networking, etc.).
