Job Description : | A key starting point in Horizon’s Consumer Enhanced Engagement Process (CEE) is a deep understanding of our consumer. A key activity in the last phase of CEE is diagnostic—understanding how successful the resulting activity was among our core consumers and how we can improve the next time. To understand and diagnose the whys and hows of people requires sharp, sophisticated and strategic research that takes into account the many ways in which people express themselves. The Research Manager is responsible for the design, fielding, and analysis of research to inform client, new business and agency deliverables, enhance the level of our thinking, and to identify fresh perspectives. This includes both primary, original research and secondary or syndicated research. He/she is also responsible for the ongoing management of Horizon’s proprietary online research panels. In addition, the Research Manager will collaborate with the Head of Conversation in the development of innovative, departmental projects designed to unlock new insights, trends, and foresights. The role combines aspects of market research, consumer insights, and project management. The Research Manager ensures flawless design and fielding of research activities as well as the ability to turn this into smart, provocative thinking for the agency and its clients. Main Duties and Responsibilities Design and manage client-focused consumer research covering a variety of topics for both current clients and new business prospects: tracking studies; communication and concept tests; target development research; trends research, etc. (50%) Design, program, launch, and manage primary quantitative surveys in Horizon’s proprietary panels (e.g. Finger on the Pulse); Design and manage quantitative surveys via outside research partners Conduct original qualitative research using focus groups, in-depth-interviews, ethnographies, diary studies, etc. In partnership with WHY Group’s team of social intelligence specialists, use social listening technologies to inform projects Generate powerful insights and clear, concise reports that reveal the WHY behind people’s thoughts, beliefs, and actions. Identify and pursue original, agency-focused research initiatives that will benefit internal Horizon stakeholders (e.g. brand strategy teams, activation teams), inform the agency as a whole, and generate publicity for Horizon. (20%) Use same set of approaches and resources outlined for client-focused work Assume responsibility for the ongoing development and maintenance of Horizon’s proprietary research panels and communities (e.g. Finger on the Pulse) (15%) Achieve high levels of ongoing member engagement Manage member communications and monitor community/panel health Develop and maintain a community content calendar Assist WHY Group team members in the export, manipulation and analysis of activity results and data Development of additional consumer panels focused on specific topics, business categories, or consumer groups as required In partnership with WHY Group’s Insight Strategists, contribute to other WHY Group projects and deliverables like activation briefs, marketing strategy briefs, target audience profiles, and similar.
