About the team and position The Safe & Secure Operations Team (SSOT) helps to keep our 20,000+ associates, who work at our 200+ various locations, Safe and Secure every day. The Safe & Secure Operations Team develops our physical security strategy, technology, remote processes, and ensures each site is prepared to deliver a Safe & Secure environment from day one of operations. Our technology is the foundation upon which we strive to create efficiency. This technology also fuels our Remote Operations Center (ROC). The ROC leverages data to monitor our sites both proactively and reactively to provide risk mitigation and crisis management support. The Manager of Build, Safe & Secure Operations is responsible for the strategic development and implementation of our physical security strategy. Leveraging their strong knowledge of physical security protocol and technology, the Manager of Build will collaborate with various internal Carvana partners to develop a framework that protects each location from day one of operations. That framework will be connected to a unified security platform that allows Carvana to scale appropriately and efficiently. The Manager of Build will need to stay abreast of industry and technology trends applying those to help us solve complex problems maintaining our emphasis on being a technology driven company. This leader will oversee a team of technicians and coordinators to ensure the needs of our fast growing business are met. What you’ll be doing As Carvana’s physical security “expert/strategic advisor”, guide and oversee the development of our physical security program to meet scaling business needs and establish our programmatic strategy for how we deploy physical security standards across our site operations and our complex real estate portfolio; provide insight and drive strategy on mitigating security risks and vulnerabilities, leading remediation efforts and prototype development that result in quantifiable decreased risks and events. Be responsible for establishing and leading cross-team initiatives to drive forward-thinking process improvements; effectively identifying and structuring problems to address complex and ambiguous issues; successfully influencing across the organization to garner an alignment and prioritization for security roadmap for multi-market site operations. Effectively scale site deployment and security protocols, reviewing all physical security events, categorizing and tracking them to identify opportunities to mitigate frequency and impact, such as enhancements to notification interfaces during qualifying events where field support is needed. Build trusted relationships across the business and act as liaison to ensure alignment with security requirements and best practices, enabling executive decision-making speed as well as an efficient exceptions process; serving as our single point of accountability for physical security determinations. Develop site design playbooks and integration standards for the Safe & Secure Team ensuring critical alignment with our Technology and Networking Team. Implement closed loop processes so that the integration of Safe & Secure technology meets all the needs of our overall Technology Infrastructure. Continue to develop a world class understanding of physical security trends and technology so that we can leverage the appropriate tools to ensure we are at the forefront of innovation. Lead a team of passionate people who model our Carvana values to “make ship happen”. Keep every detail of your area operating like a “well-oiled machine”, but also take the time to think through strategy and process with a broad perspective and make the necessary improvements to fuel future growth. Perform other duties as assigned. What you should know/have Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (preferably in business, finance or criminal justice). 7+ years of experience in corporate, public or military security systems management including physical security access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection systems. 5+ years of experience as program or project manager. Global perspective and the ability to build effective networks. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Self-starter’s mentality. Proficiency in MS Office, MS Project, and Tableau. Understanding of security video and access control technology We’d love it if you also have Master’s Degree from an accredited graduate school or university (preferably in business, finance, or security) Understanding of construction drafts/drawings.
