Coordinates and manages the purchasing activities of several areas, ensuring to reach the volume, and quality standards within the approved operation budget. Supervises the production tasks, quality and purchasing engineering. Job Description: Responsible for coordination of all purchases and purchasing procedures for the locomotive rebuild facility and the mobile locomotive repair group. Includes maintenance documentation that keeps track of purchases, placing orders, answering questions in regards to the status of the various orders, and maintaining inventory at remote inventory locations. Job Requirements: Manage inventory while supporting production and mechanics Manage cost through efficient procurement of production materials and consumables Vendor Managed Inventory Consignment Inventory Customer supplied material Manage 2-3 direct reports Adhere to regulatory requirements Education/Experiences/Qualifications: A minimum of 5 years in a production or quality-based environment is required. H.S. diploma or equivalent required, 2-3 years purchasing experience desired but not required. Previous manufacturing experience required. Basic understanding of math. Understanding of Microsoft Office products (i.e. word and excel). Creative problem-solving skills and basic bookkeeping skills. May be required to upgrade his/her skills from time to time by completing outside classes. Ability to collect and analyze data to propose solutions to procurement-related problems. Must have the ability to work alone or in groups to get tasks completed. Railroad or locomotive material experience preferred. Experience with Microsoft Navisions a plus. Why Join our team?
