| Job Description : | Position Title: Mgr Plant Operations Department: Facilities Engineering Job Description: General Description: Under minimal direction, responsible for coordinating the research, design and implementation activities of a unit specific and facility wide HVAC, Building Automation system, Central Plant Operations solutions that enhance and support OU Health operational and business performance. Essential Responsibilities: Works proactively to identify the needs of the facility and to maintain a comfortable, safe, and efficient environment. Makes staff assignments; Manages work schedules for HVAC and Central Plant Operators. Administers job performance evaluations. Provide effective and efficient training program for all direct reports. Coordinates the research, design and implementation of facility wide building automation system solutions that enhance and support OU Health operational and business performance. Maximizes performance through efficient and effective use of the computer system. Systems include building automation, fire alarm, power monitoring etc. Determines operational requirements and needs for developing solutions and optimizing performance of existing HVAC, Refrigeration, Steam and Chill Water Production, and Building Automation equipment and systems eliminating and/or reducing overlap. Continuous monitors conditions and provide performance improvement opportunities Establishes teams to evaluate new equipment and/or technologies. Ensures the conditioning of the hospital spaces are appropriate for the level of care and use associated with the space and provides an environment conducive to healing for our patients. Ensures proper pressure relationships, temperature, humidity, and filtration is provided for high acuity care areas. Oversees preventative maintenance tasks on time to ensure compliance with the hospitals utility maintenance program. Maintains and enhances a technical body of knowledge. Reads, attends appropriate training/educational programs, benchmarks with colleagues and otherwise remains abreast of contemporary and best practices. Provides the information necessary to maintain the system of metrics designed to measure effectiveness and timely responsiveness to work order tickets created through appropriate dispatch service. Maintains and contributes to a safe work environment. Adheres to all safety policies, procedures and practices, including the wearing of protective clothing and gear. Consistently uses tools and equipment correctly on the job. General Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications: Education: Associate’s Degree in HVAC Technology/Mechanical Engineering required. An equivalent amount of education or experience may be substituted for minimum educational requirements. Experience: Five (5) Years of experience as a licensed HVAC technician required, preferably in the healthcare field, including at least 1yr experience in a lead, supervisor, or project manager role. Licensure/Certifications/Registrations Required: State of Oklahoma Unlimited Mechanical Contractor’s license required, Technician Type Universal EPA certification required, Oklahoma Class 1 Boiler Operators license required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to understand and interpret regulations associated with The Joint Commission Life Safety and Environment of Care chapters, NFPA, CDC, Oklahoma State Department of Health, and OSHA. Excellent analytical skills are required in order to interpret and resolve complex technical issues, sometimes requiring original solutions in circumstances where the work product or service affects the design and operation of critical HVAC systems and equipment within OUMC. Strong interpersonal communication skills are required to interact with others and discuss complex and sophisticated concepts and systems. Must be able to demonstrate strong technical knowledge of equipment normally associated with healthcare HVAC systems. OU Health is an equal opportunity employer.
