Job Description : Nutrition Education ManagerPosition SummaryThe Nutrition Education Manager coordinates Nutrition Education programming with the Nutrition Education staff at the Southeast Texas Food Bank. The Nutrition Education Manager works closely with all program staff and other Food Bank departments to identify opportunities for collaboration in order to integrate nutrition resources and expertise information in to relevant Food Bank initiatives. The Nutrition Education Manager will work with community stakeholders to increase healthy food access, raise awareness of food insecurity as a public health issue, promote and facilitate nutrition education, and ultimately build a healthier and more food secure community. The Nutrition Education Manager will supervise VISTAS and Interns assigned to the Nutrition Education program. The Nutrition Education Manager reports to the Director of Programs.Position GoalsCoordinate and mentor the Nutrition Education team and assigned VISTAS and Interns.Organize and support worksite wellness efforts for the Southeast Texas Food Bank.Serve as key staff to Southeast Texas Food Bank partners in Health programming.Developing and managing partnerships with Healthcare organizations and community partners in the Southeast Texas Food Bank service areas.Supporting local Healthcare organizations with information and training on the relationship between health and food insecurity, food insecurity screening, and food access interventions.Working with Healthcare organizations to develop tailored food insecurity screening and intervention programs based on the unique needs, assets, and infrastructure of each organization/partnership.Positioning Southeast Texas Food Bank as integral stakeholder in community health promotion.Assisting Development Department to identify funding opportunities and ensure contract fulfillment, timely and accurate reporting, and compliance with grant guidelines.Representing Southeast Texas Food Bank at community coalition meetings and conferences related to community health and nutrition, as needed.Coordinating nutrition outreach activities performed by the Nutrition Education team.Work with Agency Relations to develop, plan, and implement strategies related to healthy Pantry development, including nudges, agency education, interface with healthcare providers, etc.Set, track, and report progress on goals for the Nutrition Education outreach activities.Fulfill SNAP- Ed requirements, including accurate and timely data entry into the Program Evaluation and Reporting System (PEARS).Track data related to program goals, evaluate data and outcomes to assess program strengths and make changes as necessary, report metrics to supervisors.Update policy, procedures, and curriculum regularly to reflect current nutrition education standards, trends, and regular program evaluation.Plan, administer, and coordinate Nutrition Education classes.Plan, implement, and evaluate nutrition, cooking and food safety education.In partnership with Communications Department, develop, design or resource, and distribute nutrition, cooking, and food safety education materials.Explore and evaluate strategies to expand the reach of trainings on healthy, affordable meal preparation and techniques.Oversee quality control for and education regarding Southeast Texas Food Bank nutrition ranking system.Support Operations Department in the acquisition of fresh produce and other healthy foods.Ensure clear, frequent, and effective communication with other Food Bank departments.Support Development team with media opportunities related to food, nutrition, food security, and nutrition education programming.Contribute content to newsletters and social media sites.Organize and support strategic nutrition related events.Advocate for policies that increase food security and access to nutritious foods.Serve as Preceptor to Dietetic Interns and provide them with experiences in food banking and community nutrition.Assist in writing and managing annual SNAP Ed grant.Performs other duties as assigned.Qualifications Education and ExperienceRegistered and Licensed Dietitian certification preferred.Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university in Nutrition preferred.Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.Experience with community nutrition, program planning, management, and evaluation preferred.Two years experience in a non profit organization or classroom environment preferred.Food Safety Manager certification preferred.Skills and AbilitiesAdvanced knowledge of nutrition, food, and food safety. Demonstrated ability with group training or experience in community nutrition or community health education.Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in computer applications including Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel, email, and internet research.Ability to work independently with little supervision. Ability to be flexible with working hours to meet the needs of the clients and requested class schedules.Ability to multi-task with projects with attention to detail and accuracy while adhering to deadlines in a high energy, fast paced environment.Ability to work with others and delegate appropriate tasks.Ability to work cooperatively under pressure with a diverse range of people. Demonstrated ability to communicate tactfully with all members of society.Exercise good judgement and discretion, strong ethical character capable of handling confidential information.Ability to work effectively with other Food Bank staff and volunteers.Must have valid drivers license and acceptable motor vehicle report.This job description reflects managements assignment of essential functions and nothing herein restricts managements right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this job at any time.
