||Position Summary: The purpose of this position is to promote, supervise, direct, plan and coordinate various functions that are related to the operations of the boarding facility, including the daycare, boarding, bathing, and grooming departments. These functions include, but are not limited to, client/patient interaction, departmental scheduling, coaching and overseeing team members, and assisting with facility maintenance. The expectation of the position of Pet Resort Manager is to handle mainly managerial duties in addition to work performing Pet Counselor duties as needed.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
Promote, grow, and help market the boarding, daycare, grooming, and bathing services of AMH.
Help conduct research regarding industry standards and client service surrounding boarding, daycare, and grooming services to ensure AMH is maintaining a competitive standing in the marketplace.
Oversee all Pet Counselor 1, 2, Floor Leader, Bather and Groomer Duties.
Set the standards of performance for Pet Counselors, Bathers, and Groomers.
Create a weekly work schedule posted two weeks in advance for Pet Counselors and Bathers.
Update the groomers’ schedules via Cornerstone through communication with groomers.
Communicate with Human Resources about staffing needs.
Interview potential applicants and hire appropriately.
Create training schedules for new employees.
Monitor and control the payroll budget for the pet resort department.
Submit pay rates for new employees and any pay rate changes.
Evaluate team members and conduct performance reviews in a timely manner.
Handle disciplinary issues in a timely manner and according to employee manual, and record all disciplinary issues appropriately.
Correct any mistakes with timecards, and monitor punctuality and attendance of pet resort team.
Lead monthly team leader and pet resort meetings.
Cooperate as a part of the management team by participating in manager’s meetings and assisting in duties required of the Management Team.
Participate in CE as required and approved by hospital owners.
Meet regularly with hospital owner to discuss departmental status including staffing, departmental issues, suggestions, and opportunities for improvements.
Help monitor inventory of pet resort supplies and pet nutrition products through communication with the Inventory Specialist.
Oversee maintenance of pet resort equipment and general hospital maintenance.
Help create and implement ideas to keep morale up and team motivated.
Serve as Manager Support Line when scheduled.
Attend and help organize AMH functions.
Talk with clients and handle any complaints when necessary.
Performance Measurements: Performance will be evaluated at the end of the initial 90 day probationary period. Performance will also be assessed after the completion of six months of employment as well as annually from the date of hire. Performance will be evaluated based upon the following: attendance, punctuality, dependability, job performance, client care, teamwork, and progress of job knowledge.
Working Conditions: Work often exposes Pet Resort Manager to unpleasant odors and noises. May be exposed to bites, scratches, and animal waste; may also be exposed to contagious diseases.
Physical Requirements: The Pet Resort Manager must be capable of handling small and large animals without risk of harm to themselves, other employees, clients, or the pet.
Minimum Position Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Animal Science, or a related field preferred but not required.
Experience: At least one year managerial or leadership experience, preferably in an animal care facility.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Apply knowledge and skills in controlling/handling individual animal temperament.
Have ability to gain animal confidence when restraining them for transport, boarding, or treatment.
Availability Needs: Primarily Monday-Friday, 1st shift; occasional weekends and evenings

Background Checks: Employment in this position is contingent upon successfully passing a background and criminal history check.
