Our product offerings include milk, flavored milk, yogurt, dip, sour cream, cottage cheese, Italian cheese, and ice cream mix marketed under the Upstate Farms®, Milk for Life®, Bison®, and Intense Milk® brands.Job purposeBased at our General Office in Lancaster, NY the Product Management Specialist’s role is to coordinate and facilitate successful execution of Sales and Marketing projects within the cooperative’s Commercial Division. Provides overall project support for new product innovation and development, product improvement, line extension, and cost savings initiatives to help achieve Upstate Niagara’s strategic goals. The Product Management Specialist works with the Project Manager and a cross-functional team and demonstrates organization and planning skills to execute projects within the defined scope, budget, and timeline. Position requires interaction with R&D, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Purchasing, Customer Service, and external stakeholders.Duties and responsibilitiesFacilitates product life-cycle planning, including ideation, new product business case development, SKU rationalization, and commercial strategy and implementationActs as a liaison between internal departments and external customers to define, design, and deliver new products and product enhancements that meet the company’s and its clients’ objectives and consumers’ needsAssists in the creation of project plans; updates and maintains project schedules across several different work streams and monitors project statusCoordinates new item set-up process and maintains detailed product databaseSchedules meetings and provides progress reports; maintains accurate documentationWorks with project team to proactively identify and overcome project obstacles, helping secure leadership support and continued alignmentAssists with consumer and trade promotion development and forecasting, competitive analysis, trade, customer, and consumer communicationsEnsures that commercialization objectives are aligned with manufacturing capabilityQualificationsStrong interpersonal, organizational, time management, and communication skillsDemonstrated project management know-how & attention to detailExperience working with project management platforms (i.e. Basecamp, MS Project, SharePoint, Smartsheet, etc.)Strong business acumen, influencing skills, adaptabilityHigh level of professionalismProlific computer skills, particularly Microsoft OfficeEducationBachelor’s degree, in an applicable major (business management or marketing)Minimum two (2) years of experience working in a cross-functional environment – preferably with a CPG companyPrior experience as a project specialist or similar positionWorking conditionsInterpersonal Climate: Upstate Niagara is a company that values professional, cordial, quality communication and collaboration among staff members and takes place via a coordinated team approach that includes other departments.
