Job Description
The Loudoun County Department of Family Services is currently seeking talented and highly motivated candidates who are looking to work in a diverse, exciting, and fast paced work environment and have a desire to help Loudoun County residents obtain public benefits and work with staff to enhance their professional development.
This position is responsible for oversight of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP), Medicaid and Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) programs. This position will have direct oversight of the Title IV-E Program that determines eligibility for Federal IV-E payments for children in foster care and ensures all Federal and State mandates are followed. Responsibilities include direct, daily oversight of a Public Benefits team of approximately 6-8 staff who process new public benefits applications and provide ongoing case management for public benefits recipients. This position is responsible for evaluation of service delivery to ensure State timeliness and accuracy mandates are met.
Additional responsibilities include on call supervision for customers that visit or call the agency, strategic planning for unit performance, collaboration with community contacts, and supporting staff in their professional development.
People who are successful in this role:
Have extensive knowledge of complex federal, state, and local SNAP, Medicaid, TANF, and Title IV-E Program policies.
Have demonstrated supervisory skills and the ability to communicate complex policies to customers and staff.
Ability to collaborate with other units and divisions within the department to ensure service delivery.
Establish relationships with community partners to promote and support public benefits programs.
Have effective oral and written communication skills.
Hiring range: $57,146.64-$77,147.96 Salary is commensurate with experience.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education /Experience Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field related; three (3) years of professional experience in a social services public benefits department including one (1) year of supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Requirements
This position is located in our Sterling office, and will be required to rotate to other locations, as requested.
This position may be assigned and required to work at an alternate work site(s) to carry out duties that support the needs of the County.
In addition, you must be available for duty beyond the normal workday (8:30am – 5:00pm), which includes nights, weekends, and holidays, as required to perform functions of the position for the assigned department.
The successful candidate may be required to perform work that involves crisis situations and is required to make decisions involving people, resources, and property.
Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
Preferred:
Public Benefits policy knowledge and experience processing SNAP, Medicaid, and TANF applications and renewals preferred.
Supervisor experience overseeing Public Benefits programs (SNAP, TANF, Medicaid, Title IV-E_
Bilingual skills preferred.
