Job Description : | SCOPE : Develops, plans, and directs the statewide radiation activities at multiple locations in accordance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Advises the Radiation Services Director, JV regarding clinical and technical needs regarding radiation and imaging clinical programs, issues and policies. Maintains overall responsibility for the radiation operations and activities of the practice except those activities actively involving the practice of medicine. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business StandardsESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :Oversees the performance of practice’s radiation and imaging oncology personnel and technology.Ensures compliance and adherence to the organization’s structure, management philosophy, and mission statements. Directs the establishment and ongoing compliance of the selected accreditation program. Implements the practice’s short and long range plans, budgets, and initiatives for radiation and imaging oncology.Supports and ensures the rapid introduction of new radiation and imaging oncology services and technologies throughout the practice.Monitors, analyzes, assesses, and communicates the growth of services. Considers present and planned capacity needs. In financial terms, considers manpower and organization needs, including facilities and technology.Implement and monitor administrative and clinical information technology and related processes to support radiation and imaging oncology activities.Ensures implementation of processes and controls to ensure communication and information flow between sites of service, JV’s governing body, the hospital management and the practice.Works cooperatively with managers and members of other departments and ensures teamwork and cooperation between radiation and imaging staffs and other personnel. Implement management tools to oversee successful radiation and imaging oncology business plans.Manage the department’s operating costs to achieve operating plans. Ensures timely and cost-effective ordering of all supplies.Analyzes and appraises the effectiveness of all radiation and imaging oncology sites of service and develops and executes specific actions to continuously improve performance. Ensures the implementation of standard radiation therapy and imaging practice procedures throughout the practice.Directs the hire and training of all radiation personnel for maximum service to patients in accordance with practice P&Ps and to ensure effective clinical staff coverage with budgetary guidelines. Directs the clinical instruction of the staff and ensures all staff maintain state licensure and are adequately trained to perform required duties.Oversees the completion of performance evaluations for all practice radiation and imaging personnel. Develops specific performance expectations and departmental objectives to ensure growth and productivity.Directs the correct use of and timely submission of charge codes and educates all radiation and imaging oncology staff in correct documentation per USON reimbursement guidelines.Directly or indirectly supervises the activities of all radiation services staff.Ensures compliance with all regulatory bodies such as JACHO, NRC, etc.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :Bachelor’s degree from an accredited radiation therapy technology program. Minimum of seven years radiation experience including at least two years actively practicing as an RTT or Dosimetrist, and at least five years of managerial and/or administrative experience. ARRT certification required; valid state licensure for radiation therapy preferred. Certified Medical Dosimetry certificate preferred, but not required.PHYSICAL DEMANDS : The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
