In this role you’ll be a primary liaison helping to foster and manage complex, high-value, and strategic partnerships between the School of Medicine and a wide variety of technology and pharmaceutical companies. You’ll earn the trust and build relationships with key innovation partners. You’ll facilitate meetings with Stanford and partner leadership and stakeholders, streamline and drive the contract process, define the objectives and key results, oversee the execution phase, and report back metrics and dashboards to key constituents. You’ll project manage large, complex projects across multiple internal Stanford departments and external partners. This position represents the Dean’s Office of the School of Medicine and the Strategy Office of Stanford Medicine and interacts daily with external partner senior executives as well as a wide variety of internal constituents including physicians, faculty, and sr. staff. This is a continuing position reporting to the Executive Director of Industry Relations. This position currently has no direct supervisory responsibilities. Manage and grow high-value external relationships with strategic value to the institution Maintain Digital Health technical partner ecosystem. Cultivate strong working relationship with existing high tech and pharmaceutical companies. Clearly and concisely, represent Stanford’s needs with privacy, security, regulation, and branding. Understand and communicate the missions of Stanford Medicine and ensure activities with partners align with our values and vision. Identify, negotiate, oversee signing, and launch partnership initiatives. Cultivate strong, working relationship with SoM/SHC executives, faculty, researchers, and physicians built on trust and open communications. Consult, influence, and present to senior management at various levels in and across a wide variety of functions. Manage inflight initiatives Manage large and complex projects with high performance risk, driving project(s) to completion. May manage more than one large project simultaneously. Work is typically comprised of 80% time contribution towards project leadership and 20% as a technical contributor. Create OKRs/KPIs for partnership initiatives and socialize them for understanding and direction. Monitor partnership initiatives for progress and lead mitigation when initiatives are off track. Provide project management for key initiatives. Create progress reports and dashboards to socialize partnership initiative progress. Interact closely with key initiatives stakeholders to ensure program is successfully meeting expectations. Perform the full range of project management cycle: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing. Independently lead and direct projects requiring high levels of functional integration and involving multiple disciplines to be managed. Direct development of an action plan, and estimate requirements for resources, including management, labor, materials, and time required to complete project. Facilitate discussions and negotiations to drive recommendation consensus. Develop and help execute comprehensive change management strategy and communication plan relative to project scope and stakeholders; orchestrate and lead change management methodologies underlying project success. These elements typically delineate the project management involved at this level: charter origination or scope identification and shaping, scope definition; managing stakeholders across-university, hospital, and partner constituents; risk-manage, control and report on risk associated with more complicated projects, affecting division or program as it relates to their project portfolio and risk sharing and control is skewed further to the project manager; project complexity involves synthesizing complex technical data and driving decisions; primary university relationship is at the senior associate/administrative dean, faculty and directors level. Other duties may also be assigned. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Executive presence, able to partner, negotiate, and influence c-suite caliber partners as well as SoM/SHC executives. Demonstrated project management ability to employ integration, scope time management, cost, quality, human resources, and communications, risk, and procurement components. Ability to balance customer expectations with project reality. Demonstrated resilience, diplomacy, influence, relationship building, and problem solving skills in a variety of situations. Keen grasp of interpersonal and impact awareness. Depth of knowledge in technical discipline/domain needed to deliver projects. Experience working cross functionally, managing competing priorities for multiple stakeholders. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE (REQUIRED): Bachelor’s degree in a related field and five years relevant experience or a combination of education and experience. Experience in management of projects with extensive size/complexity and moderate performance risk, including project planning, scheduling, tracking, and budgeting. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED): Highly effective written and oral communication skills to address a wide variety of audiences. Ability to productively assemble, engage, and lead cross-functional teams. Demonstrated project management ability to employ integration, scope time management, cost, quality, human resources, and communications, risk, and procurement components. Ability to balance customer expectations with project reality. Demonstrated resilience, diplomacy, influence, relationship building, and problem solving skills in a variety of situations. Keen grasp of interpersonal and impact awareness. Depth of knowledge in technical discipline/domain needed to deliver projects. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*: Frequently sit, perform desk based computer tasks, and grasp lightly/fine manipulation and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds. Occasionally stand/walk, write by hand, twist/bend/stoop/squat and lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh up to 20 pounds.
