Job Description : Acadia Center is seeking an experienced professional to lead our Energy Efficiency and Building Energy Justice Initiative. The Northeast’s successful energy efficiency programs will invest $5 billion in the coming 3 years, and the Senior Manager can help imagine and implement how these funds can best address climate, equity, health, and energy justice. The leakiest 25% of residential units in produce more than half of the greenhouse gas emissions in the residential sector. These super-emitting housing units often face barriers to participation in existing energy efficiency programs and are subject to significant health issues and energy burdens for the vulnerable populations who typically reside there. Acadia Center’s energy efficiency and buildings work draws from decades of success creating and expanding energy efficiency policies and programs in the northeast. The Senior Manager will lead strategies to achieve the goals of our Energy Efficiency and Building Energy Justice Initiative to comprehensively retrofit and electrify these homes through, building support, creating strong, respectful relationships with diverse voices, and advancing ambitious policy recommendations. The position will play a central leadership role shaping materials, outreach, policy approaches and recommendations.PositionThe Senior Manager, Energy Efficiency and Building Energy Justice will play a leadership role managing and coordinating outreach and analytic and policy work to advance the initiative. The position will:· Provide overall leadership of a regionally focused plan to advance the initiative’s goals at the state, regional and community levels· Shape and manage a workplan that supports policy opportunities and priorities· Conduct engagement with a diverse array of organizations and voices· Identify information needs with coalition partners to advance energy efficiency, electrification, weatherization, and ending use of fossil fuels that address energy justice· Use analytic and technical information to inform policy recommendations and advocacy and serve as a bridge between technical experts and community activists· Draft public comments and outreach documents, and communicate policy issues with media, the public, donors, and foundations· Represent the organization in external proceedings and discussions including with media· Stay apprised of policy and technology trends and advise the Director of Policy and CEOKey Qualifications· A strong interest in energy efficiency and addressing energy justice in the buildings sector· A sense of ambition and urgency to address the climate crisis in a manner that will spur economic, consumer, public health and environmental justice benefits for all· 5+ years’ relevant work experience in a consultancy, public agency, NGO or other relevant setting.· Familiarity with energy efficiency, housing, building science, and energy justice programs· Facility with technical information, policy, advocacy and community organizing· Project “design” – interest in working with staff to identify advocacy pathways through persuasive use of data· Project management – Ability to help team coordination and focus on common goals and strategies· Strong interpersonal skills and interest in engaging with staff and diverse external parties such as climate and racial justice leaders, consumers, businesses, and policymakers· Experience and enthusiasm for building coalitions and diverse external relationships and engaging in complex conversation about racial, socioeconomic, language, health and economic disparities· Writer/editor –identifying, shaping and communicating compelling framing about our projects and why they matter for use in external reports and development materials· Bachelor’s degree required; relevant master or professional degree preferredDiversity and Climate Justice CommitmentAcadia Center is committed to a diverse work environment that advances goals to remedy racial, environmental and climate justice issues. During the pandemic, Acadia Center offices are closed, and all work is remote. This position location is flexible with a preference for offices in Connecticut, Rhode Island or Massachusetts but other locations will be considered for the right candidate. Acadia Center compensation is highly competitive with peer non-profit groups and salary is commensurate with the selected candidate’s experience and skill levels. The range of compensation is expected to be from $85,000 to $101,000.
