Job Description : POSITION DESCRIPTION TITLE: SHIFT MUSICAL DIRECTORDEPARTMENT: WORSHIPFLSA STATUS: NON-EXEMPTREPORTS TO: MUSICAL DIRECTORIMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: FINAL APPROVAL: DATE: SUMMARY: The Shift Musical Director is the bandleader, arranger, recruiter, trainer, and musical counterpart to the Shift Worship Ministry of CRCC. The Shift Musical Director is responsible for helping to build a ministry that attracts musicians, creates transformative environments, and produces passionate followers of Jesus Christ through the medium of music and the creative arts. The position reports to the Worship Director.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned by the Musical Director or his designee.Basic Responsibilities: Timely and effective communication to band members and singers.Conduct weekly practice for singersDevelop priorities and assign task to singersTrain and develop students to lead worshipAssist in the planning and implementation of worship services.Arranging songs, writing charts, some programming, and musical direction in live worship settings.Serve as member of Creative Team to plan, develop, and execute weekly production.Assist in the care of the CRCC worship community.Page 1 of 4Learn and understand traditional and emerging worship styles that are conducive for the culture of CRCC and ShiftCollaborate with Communications/Technical Team to enhance worship experiences across all services and environments.Major Tasks: Contribute to song selections and arrangements.Oversee all rehearsals.Assist Musical Director in development and management of teams.Empower others to lead in their areas of strength.NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES: As assigned by Musical Director or his designee.QUALIFICATIONS/COMPETENCIES: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily with the highest integrity. A minimum 3 – 5 years’ experience as a music leader. The skills preferred for this position include a wide knowledge worship music style.Communication/Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents and correspondence. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedures. Ability to effectively present information and respond.Page 2 of 4Mathematical Skills: Ability to perform detailed work with data and to make numerical computations in support of the business of the church.Reasoning and Analysis Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. RepresentsCRCC professionally at every contact with staff, congregants, and vendors.ATTENDANCE: Must be able to report to work consistently.
