Job Description : Title: Store Manager (Fairbanks)Department: Retail SalesReports to: Market ManagerFLSA Status: Non-ExemptPosition Summary The store manager acts in the capacity and best interests of the local Market Manager and Ownership group to run the store in an efficient, cost effective, and profitable manner. The store manager should be mindful that “excellent customer service is not only a goal of this company, but a requirement to achieve our goal as a successful company. Our business is our customer not our products or services.”Essential Job Functions Sales/Customer Service o Ensure that every customer receives the appropriate level of service for him or her. o Work to ensure the sales force attitude reflects an image of professionalism, concern, and product knowledge. o Prepare and execute all store/company promotions. o Administer anti-theft procedures.Merchandise Flow o Lead warehouse team in managing day-to-day freight flow. o Flow merchandise to the sales floor in a prompt and professional manner. o Ensure appropriate merchandise layout, organization, cleanliness, and correct pricing. o Stock daily.Inventory Controlo Conduct annual inventories, ensuring that the merchandising system is as accurate as possible. o Ensure that inventory adjustments are consistent with company standards. o Ensure defective processes are adhered to and addressed in a timely manner.Building o Keep store neat, clean, safe and organized both in and outside. o Work with Market Manager to develop maintenance plans for buildings.Personnel o Recruit, schedule and train sales and warehouse team. o Oversee employee purchases. o Ensure employees are dressed and groomed in the appropriate manner in accordance with the employee handbook. o Ensure that employees are courteous and have the appropriate mannerisms with customers both in the store and on the phone. o In conjunction with the controller/human resources director; evaluate, provide feedback, discipline, and terminate employees.Budgeting o Assist the Market Manager to maintain operational budget as approved by ownership.Other o Adhere to Federal Firearms License (FFL) requirements when FFL is on premises.Non-Essential Job Functions Assist Market Manager in administering donations as defined by the approved operating budget.Drive motor vehicle as needed.Perform other job-related duties as assigned.Independent Decision-Making Make routine job-related decisions.Supervision Received and Exercised This position is supervised by the market manager. This position supervises store personnel.Physical and Mental Demands The physical demands of this position require frequent standing, walking, sitting, speaking, and hearing.Requires near vision to write and read printed materials and computer screens. Requires hearing and speaking to exchange information on the telephone or in person. The employee is regularly required to reach with his/her hands and arms and lift items weighing up to 40 lbs. Must be able to use carts, ladders, dollies, and stools to assist in moving or shelving items. Requires sufficient arm, hand, finger dexterity to operate a keyboard and other office equipment. Repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers may also be required. Requires the ability to operate a vehicle safely. Requires the ability to climb a flight of stairs. Work Environment This position is performed on the main floor of a retail store among clothing and related fixtures or in the warehouse among boxes of clothing and fixtures. This position also requires some office work.Job Qualifications The following are required:High school diploma or GED.Three years of retail and/or customer service experience.Demonstrated leadership abilities.High degree of professionalism in all modes of communication, attitude and teamwork with business partners, team, peers, and management.Demonstrated ability to provide exceptional customer service.Demonstrated understanding of the importance of engaging the community and other stakeholders.The following is preferred:Three years of experience leading and managing staff members.Additional job information This position requires regular attendance in accordance with established schedule as this is the most common time to conduct business with customers, vendors and employees.
