||Professional Protector Plan, a division of Brown & Brown, is growing and seeking an exceptional individual with proven discipline, drive, and commitment to join our team as an Underwriting Supervisor for a professional liability group. Professional Protector Plan (PPP) for Dentists offers comprehensive insurance coverage including malpractice, professional liability, general liability, employment practice liability, workers’ compensation, and property insurance products, for Dentists in all 50 states.
The hired individual will lead a team and perform underwriting function to determine acceptability of new and renewal business and maintain integrity of underwriting practices in dealing with procedures and carrier personnel.
Perform professional insurance functions in determining the acceptance or rejection of applications for insurance. Assist with underwriting audits. Make suggestions and implement procedures for staff.
Essential Job Functions:
Review files (referrals, declinations and similar items) after staff has completed preliminary function, supervisor should be able to make recommendation as to action.
Assist with Establishing and maintaining internal guidelines as to referrals, underwriting procedures and department workflow.
Assist with developing procedures to enhance productivity.
Assist with developing and maintaining underwriting manuals for Brown & Brown personnel and state administrators.
Monitor quality of underwriting staff to train employees in more difficult phases of work.
Assist with the development of staff.
Evaluate employee work performance and make recommendation for merit increase to an administrative superior.
Review accounts for claims or other adverse activity, within the underwriting authority. Suggest appropriate debits or recommend non-renewal. Within underwriting authority, review accounts for appropriate credits/debits. Refer account to NAB as part of the appeals process or non-renewal.
Maintain contact with carrier underwriting personnel; advise of performance and respond to identified needs. Suggest improvements in policy coverage or amendments to improve or maintain program results.
Adhere to carrier and internal underwriting guidelines and performance standards.
Review problem submissions or circumstances and resolve, suggest methods to promote to underwriting staff those guidelines and procedures that are pertinent to improving program results.
Consult with underwriting staff regarding the creation, modification and maintenance of internal procedures for the most efficient department operation. Prepare reports as necessary, mentor less experienced underwriters and support staff to promote staff development.

Bachelor’s degree or 1–3 years of related work experience
Team lead or supervisory experience
Proven mathematical and analytical skills
Proficiency in spreadsheet software
Demonstrated multitasking and prioritization abilities
