Rystad Energy is seeking a dynamic individual to join our Sales & Marketing Team as a Vice President, Business Development, Oil Trading, to focus on expanding Rystad’s footprint in the energy industry by generating new relationships with primarily oil traders in the US. The successful candidate should be energetic, positive and a team player with a growth-mindset. Candidate must have exceptional new business generation skills with experience in solution selling to companies within the Oil & Gas industry including primarily commodity trading firms along with some engagement with Downstream, Integrated Oil Companies, Midstream/Infrastructure and banks/investors.
Strong negotiation skills, knowledge of the global upstream sector, experience in selling services, a consultative selling approach, product demonstrations and excellent networking skills are sought. The role holder is expected to be able to network at the C-Suite level and will be supported by Rystad’s global client-facing research analysts and product specialists.
Build a pipeline of new companies to target. This role is perfect for “hunters” who will develop new client partnerships amongst commodity traders and related companies.
Present the company, our research and services in person and online at meetings, industry events and social media
Achieve and surpass growth targets defined for the covered sector
Understand the core needs of each client type and build an effective value proposition
Actively communicate internally with research, sales colleagues and management on actives and results and provide feedback and suggestions on product enhancement and new product ideas to ensure adequate market strategies adoption
Design and implement an outreach program in connection with our Marketing team
Manage interactions through the company’s CRM system
Ensure excellent customer delight and new clients are on-boarded properly
Skills & Attributes for Success
A Bachelor’s degree, Masters desirable
3-7 years sales new client acquisition in the oil trader/commodities space
Experience selling and dealing with Commodity Traders and senior management
Knowledge and genuine interest in the Oil, Midstream, Downstream and Energy industry
Highly organized and efficient at managing day to day business with multiple priorities
Building value propositions for our databases based upon specific personas and company types
Goal oriented self-starter that can work independently, as part of a team and pull in resources as required
The ability to quickly and effectively build new networks, strong existing network a plus
English language skills are imperative. Additional languages would be an advantage
Strong oral and written communication skills
Mature, experience, confident & self-motivated with a passion for selling & management
A quick learner on new products and sales approaches
Familiar with standard Office tools and CRM systems
Travel & Location
Travel will be expected nationally with occasional international trips. Preferred location for this role is Houston, but we also will consider candidates located in Chicago or New York.
