The world of music is a cruel place, don’t you think? What are your impressions as a musician of the music industry today? From Spotify? How is this most popular music streaming service for its newcomers? Do you like to upload your music to Spotify? Or are you looking for another, better place? And if you’re not a musician, how do you imagine the situation on Spotify? How do you think musicians feel right now?
Do you know that one of the most popular searches related to Spotify is the services that offer Spotify promotion for artists? Yes, promotion.

On such an advanced music streaming platform, with the best algorithm in the world, people are still looking for ways to make their music more popular. And that’s not a good sign.
I’m not saying Spotify is sick, but I’m saying it’s flawed in some areas. Those musicians looking for a Spotify promotion, they know what they’re doing. They have their reasons. And the reason for them to promote is the inability of algorithms to show them.
Those musicians upload, upload, upload and nothing changes. They get some attention, but are quickly forgotten. The algorithms don’t show them, don’t imagine them.
The only way to fight those algorithms is with the promotion. The promotion helps to increase the numbers, the number of plays, followers, likes, etc. and with higher numbers you have a higher chance of being noticed by Spotify in the end.
You may have heard the idea that music promotion is unfair and that it destroys the very fiber of the music industry itself. There has been a lot of controversy as to whether or not musicians should promote their music. But you shouldn’t listen to that, because most musicians promote their music anyway. Even those who shouted how bad the promotion is are one of the most loyal customers of promotional services.
The producers around the world have to show good songs to their musicians, so the promotion always works and is always used.

That double standard is killing the industry. While great musicians spend huge budgets on music promotion, they deprive smaller musicians of this opportunity. They are only afraid of the new, because new musicians are the spirit of the modern age, of the modern age.
Just compare the musicians of the 2000s with the musicians of today. The music has changed, the looks of musicians have changed, the ideas in the music have changed. And those bigger musicians are just afraid of losing what they have: popularity. And rightly so that they are afraid, because as soon as every new musician gets his PhD, there is no longer room for all the old musicians.
Young musicians are the future, and we shouldn’t stop them, we should encourage them.
