Three teens were charged by a Texas grand jury with second-degree assault after their soccer teammate was jumped and severely beaten.
Cole Hagan, then 16, was at a pool party in Lake Jackson, Texas, on Dec. 3 when Logan Huber and Ayden Holland, his peers from Brazoswood High School, lured him out, according to an affidavit from police, Insider previously reported.
Once outside, Hagan, a high school junior, was ambushed by his varsity football teammate, 17-year-old Reid Mitchell, who had planned the attack for several days, according to witness statements to police.Cole Hagan spent several days in intensive care after the attack, his family said. Mitchell, Huber and Holland were charged Thursday by a grand jury in Brazoria County, Texas, with aggravated second-degree assault.
Loren Klitsas, the attorney for the Hagan family, told Insider that the three teens face prison terms ranging from two to 20 years.

In December, Huber told police he witnessed “Reid Mitchell punch (Cole Hagan), bear hugged him, knocked him to the ground and then sat on top of him and elbowed him in his face,” the affidavit said.
Two of Hagan’s friends found him “bleeding from his ears in the street,” according to the affidavit. He was hospitalized with multiple brain haemorrhages, skull fractures and a broken collarbone, and he was put on a ventilator.
Hagan had hopes of playing college football, but he will “probably never play football again,” his brother previously told Insider. In December, the Hagan family filed a lawsuit against 16 people, seeking damages in excess of $50 million and naming several of Hagan’s peers and their parents, who, according to the lawsuit, “knew or should have known about the plan to kill Cole Hagan.” to attack.”
