Parag Agrawal, CEO of Twitter Inc., told employees at a meeting Thursday night that the social media company stood for “a lot more than one person, any person,” according to a Reuters report.
The meeting was held to consider Tesla Inc.’s offer. Elon Musk, CEO of TSLA, is discussing buying all of the stock in the company he doesn’t already own.
Agrawal reportedly told employees the company was not being “held hostage” by news of Musk’s takeover bid. He went on to say, “we as employees determine what happens,” according to Reuters, adding that the board was still reviewing Musk’s offer.
The Twitter CEO also said it was important to him that “people who are critical of our service, their voice is something we need to emphasize so we can learn and get better.”
Price action: Twitter shares closed 1.68% lower at $45.08 Thursday, according to data from Benzinga Pro.
